This is probably one of the heaviest YA books I've ever read... Which is part of what makes it so great.

The story starts with Justin's younger brother, Mark accidentally killing himself in front of Justin. In the year after the accident, Justin's life spirals out of control. On the anniversary of his brother's death, Justin gets into an altercation with his former best friend. At the end of the day, they meet up to finally resolve the issue, and another devastating accident occurs. Afterward, Justin is forced to relive the day of the accident over and over again, until the true nature of his experience is revealed.

The book is a wonderful piece of postmodern literature that erases the line between reality and illusion and prompts the reader to ask questions about the nature of reality. How do we know what is real? Can we really trust ourselves and our perceptions of things? Is it possible that what's real to us is nothing but an illusion?
